The river Ter flows through the region and flows into the Gola del Ter in l’Estartit. Eleven municipalities in the Baix Empordà are located in the area around this well-known river that enters the Baix Empordà near Foixà and Colomers. From here, you can follow the course of the river through Jafre, Verges, Canet de la Tallada (La Tallada d’Empordà, Ullà and Torroella de Montgrí).
This stretch of the route in the Baix Empordà can easily be done by bike, following the signs for the Ter Route or for the Baix Empordà’s Cycle Touring Network. Elements of the water heritage as well as apple orchards and small market gardens en route make this route especially pleasant.
Motorised traffic is virtually limited to people who work in the fields, although it is important to take care when crossing some regional and local roads.
