Ardenya–Cadiretes natural space

The Ardenya or Cadiretes mountains are a collection of modest peaks, albeit quite steep in some areas, covered with Mediterranean woodland, that drop into the sea in the east.
These mountains contain a wide range of elements of great natural value, forming one of the spaces with the most biodiversity in all of Girona.

The granite outcrops create a unique set of spaces and habitats populated by distinctive plant and invertebrate species, and where various threatened species of birds of prey breed.  The different slopes, valleys, gullies and rivers in these mountains are spaces where plant species from northern and central Europe penetrate, with the result that Ardenya is home to many types of flora from outside the Mediterranean in a Mediterranean space, making it a space containing specimens of species associated with the Atlantic.  Various species of flora that are endemic or are rare in Catalonia are also worth noting. There are also areas of riverside vegetation following the course of the river and torrents And on the coast, there are interesting marine communities that are still very well conserved.
