Platja d’Aro is modern, cosmopolitan and dynamic, with a high-quality offer of shops, accommodation and leisure. Sport, culture and large events are complemented by a seafront with large beaches and small coves. Castell d’Arohas history and medieval charm with its castle, church and cobbled streets that are conserved with care and sensitivity. S’Agaró has become a place with balance, architecture and nature, surrounded by a coastal path that turns into a promenade, where all of the shades of blue of the Mediterranean can be found.

Parc dels Estanys

Start the day by exploring the natural wealth of the first urban park in the municipality and discover its flora and fauna and some of the more than 250 species of birds that live here or stop off here during their migrations.

While walking around this natural space, you can also discover its most artistic part, visiting the exhibition of large format sculptures that, like an open-air museum, brings art to the visitor in this urban park.

Bike path

From the Parc dels Estanys you can follow the bike path that passes just by the edge of the park, to Castell d’Aro following the river Ridaura.

The route takes about 10 minutes by bicycle or you can also do it on foot in approximately 30 minutes.

Castell d’Aro

Visit the historical site of Castell d’Aro, explore its medieval streets and spaces that form an ensemble that has been declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest. Enjoy the setting of the oldest living nativity scene in Catalonia, the church and the charms of the Castle of Benedormiens with interesting art exhibitions.

The Parc de l’Estació

If you visit Castell d’Aro on a Sunday or a public holiday, don’t miss the miniature trains operated by the Vall d’Aro Miniature Trains Association, running in the Parc de l’Estació, one of only 7 modelling parks in Catalonia. The Parc de l’Estació is located on the site of the railway that used to link Sant Feliu de Guíxols to Girona which has now been converted into a greenway. In the park, you will also find one of the locomotives that used to do this route. It is currently undergoing restoration.

Coastal paths

After a good lunch, you can walk along one of the two coastal paths in the municipality: the Camí de Ronda de S’Agaró, which is the only coastal path to have been declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest thanks to its history, architecture and glamorous cinematic past, or the Camí de Ronda de Platja d’Aro, which is more rugged and will enable you to discover the most hidden coves of Platja d’Aro and visit the Roman villa of Pla de Palol.

Shopping in Platja d’Aro

Platja d’Aro is the Costa Brava’s open air shopping centre. You will find fashion, trends, colour, style, design, personality and variety in the more than 200 shops, from brand names to the most exclusive and luxurious boutiques.

Dinner and nightlife

To end the day, we recommend eating in one of the restaurants in the municipality and enjoying a drink at a terrace or bar to soak up the municipality’s night-time atmosphere. If you want, you can end the night in one of the municipality’s 30 pubs and nightclubs.
