THE ALCHEMY OF THE EMPORDÀ BURNERS
From end to end of the Catalan coast you will find a splendid repertory of dishes based on fish, while the plain is rich in crops, vegetables, vineyards and olive trees which blend with the generous variety of fish offered up by the sea. Only here will you find the culinary tradition and wisdom of many generations of fishermen and Empordà restaurant owners still intact.
The Olla de peix is a typical dish in which first a soup is made in which several kinds of fish are then boiled and to which each chef, the alchemist of their own burners, adds their own special ingredients.
From mid-February to mid-April, the members of the Plat Blau Association of Restaurants of the Bay serve their Olla de Peix Menu. This menu consists of home-made amuse-bouche and, as its name suggests, the star dish is the Olla de Peix, a type of soup made from various kinds of fish, with the particular touch of each chef, followed by house desserts, Sumarroca wine or Estrella Damm Inedit beer and coffee. You will find this menu at restaurants belonging to the El Plat Blau Association of Restaurants of the Bay (Calonge- Sant Antoni, Palamós and Vall-llobrega), all at the same price.
